30 Day Limit

I bought an Iphone 11 on finance Dec 26th and returned the device for refund whilst keeping the plan and sim. No problem and my account was adjusted accordingly. Now I want to buy a different device on finance but was told I have to wait 30 days.

What kind of stupid policy is this ? You buy a phone, return it then have to wait 30 days before you can buy another ? Not only this but the agent had a could care less attitude and had not interested in the slightest about explaining this policy and getting a supervisor to help me out.

Perhaps this should serve as an advance warning to look elsewhere.

Hello PedroPedro,

  Welcome to the community!

I think the delay in being able to make additional changes on your account until after 30 days is a measure intended to prevent fraudulent activity. It attempts to limit the unauthorised addition of new accounts and device purchases. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear the system takes into consideration the return of a previously purchased device.

If I remember correctly, they might be able to make an exception under certain circumstances. You might consider contacting customer service to see if they can make an exception in your situation. Alternatively, you might consider sending @FidoSolutions a PM. Once they verify some information, they'll also be able to access your account. In addition, they can also be contacted via Live Chat, Facebook, or Twitter. Those methods can be accessed via the contact page posted above.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

Today I spoke to a customer service agent who said that the thirty day policy cannot be bypassed. So the Fido policy is indeed that if you purchase a phone and subsequently return it you cannot purchase another device without waiting thirty days.

In essence you become a phone company that can't sell a phone. Way to go fido I think so far you get the dumbest policy of the year award ! What will be your next policy .... hmmm you have to wait thirty days for a sim card ?

Hello @PedroPedro,

It's true that we have a policy in place that keeps you from upgrading at least 30 days following either an upgrade, an address change or signing up. Though, when you purchase a new device, you have 15 days to return your device should you change your mind, or you can exchange your device for a different one, without waiting a 30 day period.

All very nice EXCEPT totally useless if you don't inform the customer of this policy at the time of return. Not an issue for me anymore though as I'm switching carriers.

Hey @PedroPedro! Philippe here. I hope you're feeling well. Smiley

I'll be happy to take another look at your options, to see if we can work something out, if you wish. Just let us know and we'll send you a PM from the community for that.

The saga continues ..... So I give up and wait the thirty days and see a good deal on an Iphone 7 which I decide to order. I ordered the phone and upgraded the plan. So far so good. Got the finance paperwork, tracking number for Fedex and I'm happy.

Well, Fedex would not deliver me the phone because the name on the package was not mine.It was addressed to; OBERTHUR FIDOTRISIM at Fido Hub. I kid you not but this is not even a trillion, zillion, anywhere near what my name is. So Fedex returned my phone back to Fido.

Now the fun begins. I can't get another device until this one is cancelled in Fido's system. So I can't get one from a Fido store because they are out of stock.

A sales specialist can't do anything either because they don't have any authority. Now I have to wait twenty four hours for a supervisor to call me back with a solution. Now bear in mind that the finance agreement was started on February 2nd. so I'm paying for a non existant device so far.

Actually I must confess that I am enjoying writing about this because Basil Fawlty aka John Cleese could not have done a better job Happy

I wonder what's going to happen next ? I await in awe for the next installment. Come on Fido ... What's the next surprise ?

Hello again,

Glad to hear you were able to place the order for your phone. However, had you received a notice of cancellation?

I'm not sure that was intended to ship to your address. It sounds like it was shipped to a Fido distribution centre (ie Fido Hub). Oberthur Fidotrisim is not meant to refer to you. Oberthur is their supplier; FidotriSIM refers to a multi-sized SIM for use on Fido networks (see here). I'm guessing you'll receive another notification when the phone ships from their distribution centre.

It's pretty standard to have to pay for items when they ship.

Hope this helps 😀
