As you note, GSM only refers to 2G networks. While some providers had a 3G CDMA network, as far as I am aware, those remaining networks are now being decommissioned. The WCDMA/UMTS ('3G') and LTE (4G) are the same technology across the board. So the phone should work on the networks.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, it should be noted that Rogers has already phased-out 1900MHz on the 2G and '3G' networks (see here). It is not clear as to how long the remaining GSM frequency will be available. Even if that frequency remains available on the GSM network, it's possible its footprint has been reduced as some 850MHz has been refarmed to the LTE network.
I understand that it might have some compatible LTE or 4G bands/frequencies. However, you should note that since the phone was not purchased from Fido, it's possible certain features (ie voLTE or Wifi-calling) might not work. That is, it might not be supported for voice calls over 4G networks. If that is the case, then voice calls would fall-back on to the 2G or '3G' networks.

This is what is required for a device to work on the Fido network.
GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz.
To access LTE, the device must be compatible with one or more of the following:
- 700 MHz on Band 12;
- 850MHz on Band 5;
- 1900 MHz on Band 2, Band 25;
- 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4, Band 66;
- 2600 MHz on Band 7.

Depending on the version of the device you have the USA version has all the compatible bands the international version is missing bands 25 and 66 for LTE so depending on where you are and what towers are close by you could get problems with LTE connection.
As for 5G Fid does not provide any 5G services so that would not matter.
