In addition to what Original_Lucy has already noted, if you wish to use data while abroad, you would need to ensure data and roaming data are enabled. It should be noted that neither of those settings are required to be enabled for calls and/or SMS. However, for sending/receiving MMS (as well as RCS and iMessages) both of those settings would need to be enabled. You would also need to ensure Airplane or Flight modes are disabled (see here).
The exact steps how to change those settings can vary depending on device and operating system (OS) version. You can view the general steps for android and iOS here. Though, you would not need to add any additional eSIM to roam with Fido.

Hi there @Suze25 , to roam in Mexico, if you are already a post paid customer, there is nothing to do except to turn on your phone and you will get a welcome to Mexico text to let you know that you are now roaming and you will be charged $15/per day and after March 3rd 2025 it will be $16 per day. The day is calculated from 12 midnight eastern standard time. (The time in Toronto, not Mexico) see This page for more information about roaming. Scroll down the page for roaming plans.
