hi, i just switched to the 57$ plan and cannot get the voicemail to work
im using a samsung galaxy s2x

i have the visual voicemail, i was told by fido to push number 1 on the keypad and follow the prompts.
when i did this it said no voicemail number on sim card and took me to the voicemail setup. i pushed the voicemail button
and it did not go into any setup, ??
well, i can see that my asking for help is not getting me anywhere from this forum.
i have read other posts that are exactly the same as my problem that was solved, i have a non fido phone so the normal software will not allow me to receive v vm. i have contacted fido three times now and the last answer i got was the back end people have to send you different software for a non fido phone i have a case number and everything and still no call from anyone.
could someone here that is technical support get this working for me!!

Do you know if you have the correct voicemail centre number stored in your phone? The number depends on your area code. You can find the voicemail centre numbers here.

if u have the correct number thats all u need to call ur voicemail and listen to ur messages. if u have a non-fido phone u will NEVER have the correct software, fido does not offer software versions for phones they don't sell, ur best bet is to progam the number into the voicemail menu of ur phone so when u press and hold 1 it dials the voicemail, then it says doo doo, please enter your access code, enter it and wala, you can play back ur voice messages. you may not be able to use advacned features like visual voice mail, however fido Is telling you the traditional way to check ur messages will continue to work, and it should, have u tried yet?
thats my problem, it will not let me into the voicemail menu
when i push 1 it says no voicemail number is stored on sim card, then it takes me to screen that says add number but won't go to any other screen to let me enter any number. there are other posts where the person has a non fido phone( android) where they entered a generic imei number and the problem was solved, so im pretty sure it can be fixed.
when i first got my phone i had no idea that it came with voicemail. i always just had missed calls and nothing in my prepaid package suggested i had a voicemail number. recently a friend of mine had told me that my phone had voicemail and that all i had to do was press and hold the number one speed dial. as soon as i tried it again i got the message saying "call failed". i never was informed that there was a voicemail centre that i had to call and nothing was said about the voicemail center on the site or in my prepaid cellphone package. also, now that i have stored my own number as the voicmail number, none of my setup menu's will allow me to change that number. I have no idea how to change the voicemail number now even if i do get my actual voicemail number from the voicemail center
