Unlocking

So the new change in unlocking phones for free by the CRTC, does that include the home phone hub as well to get that unlocked?

Re: Unlocking

Hi @robertnguyen10,

Good question indeed! Wireless devices capable of being unlocked include phones, smartphones, tablets, Rocket Hubs, Rocket Sticks, Rocket Mobile Hotspots, and Wireless Home Phone devices. Devices that are sold unlocked (e.g. iPads, Pixel phone and Nexus phones and tablets) do not need unlocking.

That said, it could be unlocked free of charge as of December 1st' 2017.

Re: Unlocking

Hello @robertnguyen10,

That is a good question, the new rule says "Mobile devices unlocked free of charge, upon request, and all newly purchased devices unlocked" the home phone hub is not consider a "mobile device" it would not qualify to be unlocked for free.
