I just upgraded my phone from a S5 to a S7 but can't activate the new SIM card for some reason

Hi all!

 

I stumbled on this thread and just wanted to provide instructions (taken from Fido.ca) on how to swap a SIM card:

 

To change your SIM card

  • Log in to My Account.
  • Choose the number for which you are changing the SIM card.
  • Select Update SIM Card.
  • Enter the new SIM card number in the required field.
  • Select Next.
  • Double-check your info on the resulting confirmation page, agree to the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of the page, and then select Continue.

You can now insert your SIM card into your phone. Just make sure to turn your device on and off to finish the process.

 

Note that this option will only be available if your account is registered as the account holder.

So what happens exactly when you put in the sim card in your phone?

 

Are you getting any type of error message?

 

Are you using the same sim card that you had on the S5?

It's not that it gives me an error message, and I'm using a new SIM card that came with the upgrade through the mail when I try to follow the activation proccedure, It doesn't show the update my SIM card link. It doesn't even show it on my old phone through the website.
