Hi everyone,  I have a old Lg Lollipop flip phone and want to give to my daughter.  It's said to work with 3G bands HSDPA 2100. However I keep getting the no service message. Does anybody know if old phone still function with new sim cards?

Thanks

Hello Maig,

  Welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, from what you note, I do not think that phone will work on the networks. Fido does not use that frequency for their '3G' (WCDMA or UMTS) network. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here. That would be the reason why you're receiving the no service message.

Depending on which band that phone is using, it may or may not be compatible within North America. I am not aware of any provider offering services using Band 1 (2100 MHz). There is, however, a Canadian provider using Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz) for their '3G' network. However, you should note that provider is only a regional provider.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
