How can I use Facetime on iPhone to make free call abroad (to another iPhone user)?
I am new to this. Would anyone suggest me, please?
My latest bill has got charged with some international call fee.
I checked my iPhone setting, and it might be because I haven't set Wi-fi calling. I have 2 phone numbers on my iPhone, one is Fido and another is from my abroad country. Perhaps I should switch the line to call first. But just need some specialist/anyone who has knowledge on this.
Thank you.

Hello UPNaris,
Welcome to the community!
Sorry to hear you've incurred long-distance charges for using FaceTime. Unfortunately, I'm not a specialist with using FaceTime as I am an Android device user. However, I may be able to offer some information I have come across.
Firstly, FaceTime would not have anything to do with Wifi-calling. While both services allow for voIP calls, they are very different services. For example, FaceTime is strictly an Apple feature while Wifi-calling is offered by the mobile providers.
With regards to the call going through as a long-distance call versus FaceTime, is it possible Apple changed their Facetime interface such that making calls through the app is now different than it was before? Another community member noted a similar issue they referred to as a glitch (see here). Perhaps waiting a couple of extra moments to ensure the FaceTime app has fully loaded before making calls might prevent future issues?
Hope this helps 😀
Cheers

Good morning @UPNaris , sorry that you are having difficulty with FaceTime. I am not an iPhone user, but a friend of mine went into an apple store and they taught her how to use the phone and it's features. I find in person help is the best way to see it, do it and then know it. Unless someone else on this forum can assist you on how to use it, I highly recommend the apple store to get a tutorial and assistance. It is free I believe.
