As it has been discussed in the community that there are too many spam robot calls nowadays. And Fido seems unable to provide a satisfying solution. Fine. How about solving the case that robot calls end up in the voicemail? Ironically, even I immediately recognize it is a spam call without picking it up, it still harass my voicemail - I have to go to VM and delete manually one by one, which is extremely annoying. So at least allow your subscribers have the option to reject any voicemail. Other service providers do a good job. I can just record 'this number does not take voicemail plz send text messages'. Then there is an option to hang up after playing this greeting. Problem solved. You don't need to implement any super high-tech. (AI blabla...And I know the cost will eventually be covered by increased rates.) Just offer us the option. Please learn, Fido.

I just contacted Fido and asked to have voicemail removed/disabled and I was told that I can't remove it unless I change my plan. That's a poor model. I also only ever get spam calls even using my phone. Any actual real people who want to contact me do so via text message. I removed the visual voicemail add-on so that I'm not paying for it. But I think it's very foolish as a company to make it so difficult to remove voicemail since it seems to only be used by spam and robocallers anymore. Fido needs to work harder to fix this issue.

Hey @amanduhtea ,
Welcome to the community!
We know that spam calls can quickly fill up your voicemail and be quite a nuisance. That said, we do have the option to remove the voicemail from your service without a plan change.
We'll send you a quick message to follow up on that. Talk to you soon!

Hello Peteve,
Welcome to the community!
If you did not wish to use the voicemail service, you can have the feature disabled on your account. If you would like to disable voicemail, you would need to contact customer service. In addition, they can also be contacted via Live Chat, Facebook, or Twitter. Those methods can be accessed via the contact page posted above.
Hope this helps 😀
Cheers

Well that's surprising! First of all why is voicemail on per default? This is not a feature that should be automatically be on or force the users to opt out of. Why can it not simply in deactivated in the voicemail messaging center? There are a ton of pointless questions one has to ensure when calling the mailbox for the first time but the first question should be "do you want voicemail?". Very surprised such an outdated feature is still a thing here in Canada

Thanks for your feedback @Jage !
A lot of people still used the voicemail feature, but you do have the option to opt out from it by contacting us.
