Call Forwarding with non-Fido phone

Purchased a Samsung S24+ directly from Samsung  but call forwarding does not engage and I get a 'Failed to read data' message.

When I put the SIM back in my old S20 that I got from Fido, I have no problems and call forwarding works fine.  Does Fido need to reset my account?

Resetting network didn't help. I think the problem is with APN setting. Time to call Fido tech support.

@deepcman how exactly are you trying to activate call forwarding, what are the exact steps you are taking?

Kapable, I don't mean to be rude, but if you read my initial posting I can turn on call forwarding on my old S20 (running One UI 5.1) but not on my new S24 (running One UI 6.1) so don't you think I know the process? But to satisify your curiosity, I've tried using call forwarding settings in the phone modual and have also tried the *21*(10 digits)# method.  If you're running One UI 6.1 and have call forwarding working, please share the details. Today, I have time to call Fido and will report back.

@deepcman, The only thing I knew beyond your last reply is you are not able to call forward on your S24 but you can on your S20 you give no other information, I'm not a mind reader to know the method you are using to call forward you further stated you read that it is a bug in One UI 6.1 but give no source of this, if it is a bug in One UI 6.1 what are you expecting Fido tech department to do about it? Samsung is the one that needs to fix it.

I asked for the steps you took to enable call forwarding because if you used *21*(10 digits)# on the S20 and it worked then the call forwarding should stick and the call should still be forwarded if you put the SIM card in another phone.

I've tested this and it works although the only phones I have access to at the moment are Pixel devices I can test it on my boy's devices when they get home as they have Samsung devices, what I would suggest though is if you have recently upgraded to One UI 6.1 I would strongly suggest a factory reset as sometimes bugs can occur after a major update.

@deepcman I just tested it on a S21 with One UI 6.1 and call forward works as it should. I would suggest a factor reset.

I'm going to give it a shot since I'm running out of options.

My wife's S24 ultra, bought from directly from Samsung has same issue.

Hello Deepcman,

  Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear you've been having issues with call-forwarding. Unfortunately, I do not know of a solution to your issue.

You can verify the proper APN settings here.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

Hi @deepcman , it should work. Did you call tech support to have your network reset or for assistance with troubleshooting your issue? You can call *611 from your device and request assistance from technical support. Or you can try reaching out to fidosolutions on Twitter or Facebook and request assistance through direct messaging. Hope that helps you out. Cheers

It should work but it doesn't and I know I can call tech support but I was hoping to get an answer here. Please feel free to comment if you can explain my technical issue.

Hi again @deepcman , did you try a network reset yourself on your device? You can find that under general management, reset, network reset

Yes but I read it appears to be a bug in the One UI 6.1 update.

Can anyone running One UI 6.1 confirm they're able to activate call forwarding.

Hey @deepcman Smiley

Feel free to contact our Tech Support team for further assistance, if this is still unresolved!

They'll be happy to look into it with you.
