Hello Roysuuuuuuuu,

  Welcome to the community!

Wifi-calling does not rely on the bands/frequencies required for cellular service. It would use your local Wifi source (ie home, office, public, etc) to access the networks via the internet gateway (see image here).

That said, according to those specifications, that phone appears to support all of the LTE bands/frequencies. You can view the compatible bands/frequencies here. So, you should be able to use that device for data.

It should be mentioned that those specifications do not list any 2G or '3G' bands/frequencies. You should note that since the device is not available from Fido, it would likely not to be supported for certain functions (ie voLTE and/or Wifi-calling). If that device does not have any compatible 2G and '3G' bands/frequencies, I don't think it'll function for voice calls or messaging with Fido.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

Hi if I get a S23 from Samsung Canada or any devices supported by Fido. The device would have Wifi Calling and voLTE, am I understanding that correctly?

Hello again,

As far as I am aware, I believe that is correct. Generally, devices not purchased nor available from Fido won't likely be supported for certain functions, like voLTE and Wifi-calling. That's why your previous inquiry regarding an OnePlus device deemed that device not supported for those features. However, Fido has allowed certain grey-market (ie Canadian version of devices carried by Fido but purchased elsewhere) to use the service. Those included Samsung Galaxy S8 and above (see here).

I would expect the Galaxy S23 to have similar support. Unlike the US, there is only one Canadian version of that device, SM-S911W. That same variant is offered from the different Canadian providers as well as Samsung Canada. Although you specifically mentioned getting the device from Samsung Canada, it should be noted that other variants of the Galaxy S23 (ie US or Global variants etc) would likely not have those features supported.

Hope this helps 😀
