Hi, quick question. I just upgraded my device and as far as I see on my online account, I will retain the same phone number. However, with the new device Fido sent me a new simcard. What am I suppose to do with it. My old (nano sim) fits perfectly in the new device.

Hello Mehtabsinghwarr,

  Welcome to the community!

Are you referring to the eSIM number versus physical SIM number or your phone number? The eSIM number would likely be different from the number printed on the physical SIM card. Your phone number is only associated with a SIM card (physical or eSIM). If your phone number is currently associated with a physical SIM card, you can update the information on your file to associate the phone number with a different SIM (physical or eSIM).

If your new phone can utilise a physical SIM card, you can simply remove the card from your old phone and insert it into your new phone. On the other hand, if your new phone only uses eSIMs or you would prefer to have an eSIM, you should be able to update the SIM card information via your My Account --> View Usage & Manage. From your Dashboard, there should be the option to Manage SIM (under Quick Actions, near bottom of page). Once updated, your phone number would be associated with the new SIM or eSIM.

Hope this helps 😀

Hello Vdigai,

  Welcome to the community!

If your old SIM fits in your new phone, you can go ahead and use your old SIM. The new SIM is provided with new devices in case a customer's old SIM does not fit in their new phone. In those cases, they would need to update their account with the new SIM number. Since you are able to use your old SIM, you are good to go! You can keep the new SIM in case you need to update your SIM in the future.

Hope this helps 😀
