Welcome to the community!
You should be able to make calls using + symbol and country code -- even for the 1000 bonus international minutes. On most phones, if you press and hold the 0 button, the + symbol will appear.
I actually use the +country code for all of my contacts. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work for the bonus minutes as well.
