Using Fido Prepaid Line outside Canada

Hello,

I'm a Fido prepaid line subscriber and am currently in Tokyo, Japan. Can fido prepaid subscribers receive incoming text messages and calls on their fido prepaid line? Currently, my balance in the prpaid line is zero but before I top it up I wanted to know if I can receive an SMS or call while in Tokyo?

Hello Aditya5,

  Welcome to the community!

Fido does offer pay-per-use roaming for pre-paid plans. These would be the roaming rates for Japan:

There shouldn't be any roaming fees to receive SMS. However, making or receiving calls and sending SMS would be charged appropriately. You should note that sending/receiving MMS won't be possible as roaming data is not available on pre-paid plans.

Have you verified that your phone is compatible with the bands/frequencies in Japan?

**edit** How long has your account balance been zero? You should note that if your prepaid mobile account balance remains at $0 for 6 consecutive months or if required payments towards your account are not made or are returned, for any reason, your prepaid mobile identifier (e.g., phone number or PIN number) will be deactivated (see Terms & Conditions; section 7c).**

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
