Hello,
I was in US /NYC for ~12 days last month, and as per roaming I was charged ~$12 per day, which is acceptable, but I was NOT able to make calls to either Canadian numbers, or the any cellular number in India, even though I have a long distance calling plan which allows calls to India/US for $0.01 per minute. I had to turn voice over LTE to get local US calls to work. I have never had issues calling either US/India numbers directly from my phone whilst in Canada, but in US, seems like there is an issue.
i have been billed for each of those 12 days, but when service is not as described, should there not be some discounts?
Also, I am wondering if other people have had similar issues when some of their services dont work when they are in Roaming/travelling to other countries.
Thanks
Amogh

Hello Amoghjain1988,
Welcome to the community!
Sorry to hear your services were not working as expected when you were in the US. I understand you have long-distance plan. Is that the preferred International rates add-on? As far as I am aware, calls to India with that add-on are 2¢ per minute (see here).
With regards to having to enable voice-over-LTE (voLTE), that would be due to the US shut-down of the '3G' networks (see here). Unfortunately, I do not know why you were unable to make calls back to Canada or India. Fido Roam should have allowed you to use your device the same as in Canada.
The only thing I can think of which possibly could have been an issue is the dialling format used. That said, making calls abroad from Canada or the US should use the same dialling format. Did you use the + symbol or the Country Exit Code (011) when you dialled the number(s)? Though, as mentioned, it should be the same for International calls from both Canada and US. However, it could explain why you were able to make calls to the US as those would not have required any Country exit code.
