This week I dropped and cracked my phone and was very happy I spend $18.99 on insurance  because the first one is free... or so I thought. I had an appointment this week to get my phone assessed/ repaired but the day after I started my claim I was told it was unfixable ( no one looked at it) and order for them to resume my claim I would have to pay $145.77 as replacement fees ( the text I got previously said it was free. This was because as a rep said they didn't have the parts to fix it (for free) so now I have to pay money!!!!

Also they didn't record my address properly when I verified so now my phone is undeliverable!!!!

You need to be cautious with these kinds of insurance plans. They may be store specific. What's further confusing is there are so many "indy" Fido/Rogers stores which aren't flagship or official stores. They set their own rules and fees.

Hello Confusedhere,

You do make a good point. Other stores to be wary of with regards to device protection are the resellers (ie Wireless Wave, TBooth Wireless, Best Buy, etc). They often offer their own device protection which can be different from what is offered from the mobile providers themselves.

Cheers

Hello Sly85,

  Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear you've damaged your phone. Likewize does state a first phone screen break repair will have a $0 Processing Fee if no other damage is present (see here). Also note that a damaged back glass is not considered screen repair.

Unfortunately, we do not know what was discussed. I understand the representative might have told you they did not have the parts to fix it. However, it sounds like your device incurred additional damage (ie more than mere cracked screen). If the only damage was a screen repair, the processing fee for that repair is $39. On the other hand, they charge you note appears to be for phone damage and warranty processing fee. If there is additional damage to the device, the first free screen repair would not apply.

You should note that this forum is community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. If you wish to discuss your situation with Fido, you would need to contact customer service. In addition, they can also be contacted via Live Chat, Facebook, or Twitter. Those methods can be accessed via the contact page posted above. That said, you would likely need to discuss the matter with Likewize.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
