If I "Change my number" what happens to the calls made to the old number

Hey If I "Change my number" what happens to the calls made to the old number...will I still able to receive calls from people who are trying to reach me via the old number/will they get redirected to the new number or will I completely loose those calls?

Hello Vaanutimaya,

  Welcome to the community!

  If you change your phone number, your old number will no longer be active for a period of time. There is no service to forward calls made to your old number to your new number. You will need to inform your contacts of your number change. Once your new number is active, your old number will no longer work. After a designated period of time, your old phone number will be recycled and be available to others.

  If you change your phone number, you may find that some people contact your new number looking for its previous owner.
