Hey guys.
Is there a way to cancel my device protection on fido.ca? Local fido store suggested calling *611 for manual cancellation but there was no response...
Thank you!

does anyone really exist at Fido support? or do they sit around eating doughnuts and laughing at the customers that were suckered into accepting "Device protection'?

I have a question, does device protection apply to a unlocked phone I bought from a 3rd party?

Hello Coop,
Welcome to the forums!
I do not believe device protection would apply on a phone purchased from a 3rd party. Usually device protection needs to be purchased at the time of sale and only applies to that particular device (ie non-transferrable). I do not believe there are any blanket device protection plans which would include multiple or different devices (except perhaps some specialised home insurance plans etc).
Hope this helps!:smileyhappy:
Cheers

Hey Coop!
I confirm what @Cawtau just said, it's not possible to purchase the Device Protection plan for a non-Fido phone. That protection plan can only be purchased for a Fido phone and within the first 15 days of a purchase.
Hope this helps!

That's just great ! (Sarcasm!)
So i'm stuck with this expensive phone with no insurance on it.
It would have been nice if fido specified that on the website.
There's no mention of excluding 3rd party/non-fido phones.
A key piece of information conveniently left out.
Very dissatisfied.

Hey @corsyx ,
While it's true that the device protection can only be added within the first 15 days after you purchase a Fido phone, we do have open enrollement periods for the Device Protection which are outside of the 15 days and which apply to Non-Fido phones !
Did you add this service during an open-enrollement period?

I have not signed up for device protection yet. I was hoping to with the new phone I bought from a third party.
Are you saying there are periods in which fido will allow non-fido phones?
If so, when?
and why periodically (and not constantly)?

Hi there @corsyx
To answer your question, any warranty Fido offers only apply to Fido phones & devices.
These types of warranties can't be extended to non-Fido phones.
As for the open enrollement period FidoRanya mentioned above, this is concerning the Device Protection Service.
On certain occasions, it can be offered past the 15-Day-Satisfaction Warranty we offer, at the time of the phone purchase. That all depends on our ongoing promotions
Are you interested in getting a new phone?
We'd love to help out in any way we can!

I bought and new and expensive phone on sunday from a third party... and i want device protection on it.
I got a great deal on it and dont want to have re-purchase it from anywhere else for msrp or having to sign a new contract.

Hi @corsyx!
Welcome to the Community!
I can understand why you would want to protect your investment! Phones are quite expensive nowadays!
We are currently not in an open-enrollment period, so it's not going to be possible to add the Device Protection to your line.

So during an open-enrollment period, we can add device protection to a non-fido phone?
When do these periods take place?

Thanks guys, you just confirmed for me that I should cancel it. I sold the phone that I bought the plan with and now using a N5.

Hi Longinus1,
Removing Device Protection is not something that can be done through Fido.ca. This is something that needs to be handled through customer service.
Our customer service is open from 8 am to 9 pm on weekdays and from 9 am to 5 pm on weekends.
You can also contact LiveChat through My Account on Fido.ca to remove this add-on. It is available from 8 am to midnight on weekends and from 9 am to 8 pm on the weekends (EST).
