Data only plan needs to receive SMS message with code to verify WhatsApp ac

I have a data only plan with Fido. Now I need to receive an SMS message to verify my WhatsApp account. Can I call Fido to unblock the sms service for a day or two so I can get this verification done?

  Welcome to the community and Happy New Year!


  Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to unblock the SMS service on the data-only plans anymore (see here). Is it possible to send the WhatsApp verification code to another device? If you have an existing WhatsApp account, it should be tied to another phone number. You should be able to receive the verfication code on that device and enter the code on the device with the data-only plan.

All the data plan usually include text. 


If you are the main account holder I would definitely give Fido a call and see what is in your account and if needed they can activate for you on the spot.


Also you maybe able to verify your WhatsApp using a  different option like a call.

Thanks for your reply. But my plan can’t accept calls and text. It is data only plan!

Welcome to the community!


All the data only plans comes with voice and text disabled by default.


You would need to contact customer service and ask if they would enable it.
