I'm planning on buying a new phone (iPhone 15 pro max) on Saturday, however I am still in a contract with two months ($96) left.
I tried adding the remaining balance to my account assuming I could pay it off immediately, however that just gave me a negative balance for my next bill.
I would like to stick with the same plan and upgrade my phone, so I was wondering
a) If I could upgrade my phone through a store instead of the app as I don't want to wait four weeks for the delivery
b) If they can, i'd like to know whether the store can use my negative account balance to upgrade my phone and pay off the contract, or if I will have to pay that at the store on top of the down payment, and just use the negative balance on my next bill

Hello @Rainymatrix,
When paying off a device balance you will need to contact customer service and they will apply the money to the device otherwise it will just be applied as a bill payment and goes as a negative balance.
You can definitely do the upgrade at the store but you will most likely be charged the remaining device balance and the amount you already paid will stay as a negative balance and be applied to your next bill.
You can always contact customer service directly and see if they can apply the negative balance to the device if not there is no harm in leaving it as it will just be applied to your next bill.
