Had you backed up your phone with iTunes or iCloud? These pages (here and here) show how to recover iMessages from iTunes or iCloud.
There are also 3rd party programs which will help recover the messages as well. Those links above also provide some of those programs. I'm sure there are other programs available as well. I haven't used either of those programs personally so I do not know how well they work. If you do have to resort to one of the 3rd party programs, you might consider researching the various programs to determine the one which best suits your needs.
