iPhone 8 locked?

If I buy an iPhone 8 from Fido, will it be locked to the Fido network? Or would i be able to put SIMs from other carriers (i.e. when travelling abroad, buying a local SIM card).

All phones purchased from Fido as of September 1st can be unlocked free of charge.

@FidoFaiza don't you mean all devices purchased at full price on or after September 1-2017 can be unlocked for free? Subsidise phones will have to wait until December 1-2017. 

@ariqah to answer your question the phone does come locked but it can be unlocked for free now or after December 1-2017 depending if you purchased the phone at full price or you got it on a contract.

 Oops, my bad! @KAPABLE-K is right: customers who purchased their device outright on or after September 1, 2017 will not need to pay any unlocking fee. Phones purchased on contract will indeed have to wait til December 2017.
