According to those specifications, that phone would have 2 compatible bands/frequencies for LTE. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here. If the phone is not from Fido, you might also consider verifiying bands/frequencies on the '3G' network. Since the device is not from Fido, it's unlikely certain features (ie voLTE and Wifi-calling) would work. If you would like to also use the device for voice calls, it would need compatible bands/frequencies on the '3G' networks as well.
You should also note that the different bands/frequencies vary in their characteristics. For example, the lower frequencies (ie 700MHz) are able to travel farther and penetrate deeper than higher frequencies (ie 2600MHz)(see graphic here). That phone would not have a compatible 700MHz band.

Thank you for the additional information. I assume you're referring to the Huawei P40 Lite?
There appear to be multiple versions of that model. That said, as far as I can tell, they seem to have the same 2G and '3G' bands/frequenies:

According to those specifications, those models have all of the compatible bands/frequencies for 2G. However, they only appear to have one compatible '3G' band/frequency. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here (I apologise for the wrong link posted above). You should note that Rogers intends to decommission the 2G GSM network by the end of this year (see here). So going forward, that device would only have the one compatible '3G' band/frequency. While the phone should work on those networks, coverage would depend on corresponding bands/frequencies used at your surrounding cellular towers. You can get an idea of your area towers here.

That phone has all of the compatible bands/frequencies for the 2G and '3G' networks. With regards to LTE, that phone does not have any LTE bands. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here.
Have you verified that the phone is using the correct APN? Since the phone is not capable of LTE, it should be using Fido-core-appl1.apn. You can verify those settings here.

To add to the information @FidoMegan provided above, LTE compatibility would depend on which version you have or intend to purchase. The LTE information above would be correct with regards to the EU/Indian version. On the other hand, the North American version would have two of the three compatible bands, bands 4 and 7. The caveat when a phone does not have all of the compatible bands/frequencies is that coverage may be limited depending on the bands/frequencies of the surrounding towers. That said, band 4 tends to be the more widely used band so coverage should not really be an issue.
In addition, that phone would also have all of the compatible bands for 2G. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here.

The phone should work on the 3G network since it's compatible with the frequencies that we use, 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. For LTE, this would depend on your location and which frequencies are used in that area since Band 7 is only offered in certain locations.

Judging by those specifications, that phone would only have one of the compatible LTE bands/frequencies. While the phone would work on the LTE networks, coverage may be limited and depend on the frequencies of the surrounding towers.
Additionally, according to here, that phone would also only have one of the compatible bands/frequencies for 2G, band 2 (1900MHz). On the other hand, it would have both of the compatible bands/frequencies for '3G'. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here.

I am considering a Xiaomi too ( redmi note 3 or note 2, not sure ) and here are the full bands specification :
UMTS : 850 900 1900 2100
GSM : 900 1800 1900
TD SCDMA 1880-1920
TD SCDMA 2010-2025
LTE : FDD 1800 2100 2600
Network Technologies : GPRS EDGE UMTS HSPA+
Official fido web page to configure an unlocked device says :
Your device must be compatible with the Fido network, which uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz.
The lack of 850 in GSM worries me even if there is 850 in UMTS.
Will these phone supports 3G at least ?
What do we lose when there is not 850 in GSM but it is in UMTS ?

A phone with only 2600MHz (band 7) will work on the Fido/Rogers LTE network. However, you should be aware that since it only has the one compatible frequency, coverage may be limited depending on the frequencies of the surrounding towers. Coverage with band 7 is not as widespread as the coverage with band 4. If LTE is important to you, then you might consider trying to identify the frequencies of the LTE towers in the areas you intend to use your phone most often.
