voice mail icon in the status bar and alerts

Hello
When I receive an alert for a new voicemail, it just says new message and puts the fact that it is a voice message into my text messages.
Is the a way to have the alerts specify that the message is a voice message and have an alert remain in the status bar until I have checked my voice messages.

Unfortunately, we're not able to change the way that the notification is received when you have a voicemail.

Thank you for your reply. Is it Fido that does not support the voicemail icon or Galaxy. In my voicemail settings there are no options, only the phone number is displayed.

It depends on the type of voicemail you have. It's not something that can be changed in the settings of the phone or the voicemail.
