I have never purchased a cellphone online before and I'm wondering how it works. Like when the phone arrives with the plan I selected, when does it activate and my current phone that I am replacing it with deactivate. Also does it come with its own SIM card?

Welcome to the Community!
If the new phone uses a different SIM card than your current phone, you'll get a new SIM with it. Once the phone arrives, you'll need to activate your SIM card. You can do this directly on fido.ca in your My Account. Click on Services > Mobile and you'll see the option to update your SIM card.
Once you do this, your old SIM card will stop working and you'll be able to use the new phone.
