new phone - same plan

I purchased a new unlocked Moto g phone. Purchased a micro sim from fido, and had them switch my account to the new phone. I can sent text messages, but I am not getting them from others. They are going to my old phone, even though I have taken the old sim out. I am technologically challenged...so please explain what I need to do??? Thnks

That means your old phone is receiving iMessages, not text messages. You should still be able to send and receive regular texts from your new phone. Turn the WiFi off or the iMessaging feature off in your old phone and it won't receive iMessages anymore.

yes, my old phone was an iphone 3gs. does that cause problems?

That means your old phone is receiving iMessages, not text messages. You should still be able to send and receive regular texts from your new phone. Turn the WiFi off or the iMessaging feature off in your old phone and it won't receive iMessages anymore.
