Upgrading a device with a pre existing account do I need credit card

Okay so I got offered the remaining balance of my current device taken off on my account. I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy s9. I put in an order for my device to be upgraded. Currently due to covered my credit card is not in the greatest situation. But I've been a loyal Fido customer and always paid my bills on time. All I've gotten so far is an email saying your order is being processed will get back to you. Was wondering if I'll have to be charge anything which it said I wouldn't as there was zero down and also if this will be renewing my plan as the price of my plan that I selected went up. Any clarification on this would be much appreciated.
