Hi
I've purchased a phone HUAWEI MATE S from China
Ive been doing quite a bit of research and at this point Im still not sure about the following.
Will an China version of will work with FIdo LTE?
The bands of the HUAWEI MATE S thats being sold unlocked online are:
FDD LTE:B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B17/B20 *
UMTS:850/900/AWS/1900/2100(B8/B5/B4/B2/B1)
DC-42M:B1/B2/B4/B5/B8; TD-SCDMA: B34/B39; CDMA:N/A; GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz;
Do all of these bands have to match fido's lte bands?
thank you

Hello BK111,
Welcome to the forums!
Thanks FidoCatherine for posting the compatible bands/frequencies. Judging by those specifications, that version of the Huawei Mate S looks to be the CRR-UL00 and would have all of the compatible bands/frequencies for 2G, '3G', and LTE. You can also verify the compatible bands/frequencies here.
No, all of those bands do not have to match Fido's LTE bands. The additional bands/frequencies would not affect how the phone works on the networks. They are simply available on the phone for use on other networks in different countries. As long as some of those bands match Fido's bands, the phone should work on the networks. Since that phone has all of the compatible bands/frequencies, it should not have any problems accessing the the networks.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hey BK111,
to access LTE, the phone must be compatible with:
- 700 MHz on Band 17;
- 1700 / 2100 MHz on Band4;
- 2600 MHz on Band 7.
You could always test it out & see if the Band4-2100 MHz allows your phone to connect to LTE, by putting in a Fido SIM card & trying it out!
To use our network at all, your device must be compatible with the Fido network, which uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA & HSPA+:
- at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz.
To use your unlocked device, you must have an active Fido SIM card.
I hope this information was helpful! 😃
