I did not receive Amber Alert last night

I am wondering why I did not receive last night's Amber Alert.

I have an iPhone SE running iOS 12.1.4. I have LTE enabled. When there were test alerts generated several months ago, I received all of them no problem.

Hey @SillyBunt!

A few things could have impacted this. Let's try to figure it out.

Can you please confirm which province you're from?
What device are you using?
Were you connected on LTE or WiFi?

You can find out all the details on the official page Alert Ready page: https://www.alertready.ca/
The FAQ section might have an answer to your question.

Hope it helps, let us know! Smiley

Allan,

Before wasting anyone's time posting this, I had already checked the FAQ and alert links and verified that I have the correct device/settings.

I am in Ontario

To repeat what was in my original post

- I have an iPhone SE running iOS 12.1.4

- I have LTE enabled

- when the system was being tested a few months back I had received alerts

Hello SillyBunt,

I understand your phone might have had LTE-enabled. However, that does not necessarily mean that the phone was connected to the LTE network at the time the alerts went out.

Is your phone capable of voLTE or Wifi-calling? If not, calls and messages get sent via the 2G and/or '3G' networks. The phone would be constantly switching between LTE and those networks when you make/receive calls or send/receive messages. That's one limitation of the alert system.

Hope this helps Smiley

Cheers

Thanks for clarifying @SillyBunt .

Was your phone on Do Not Disturb by any chance? That would block the notification!
