How to make my general voicemail greeting play instead

Hi, 

After months of not having a proper voicemail message, I finally set it up. 

I set up my voicemail message, the one that's long and are usually like "Hi, this is xxxxx's voicemail please leave me your name and..." You know what I'm talking about. Well, after I set my voicemail up, I called my phone number from a diff phone and when it goes to voicemail, it only plays my name. 

I was wondering why that is? Is there a way for me to make my voicemail message play instead of the name greeting? I tried deleting it but I can't.

When you initially setup your voicemail, you normally have the option to setup a custom greeting for your voicemail. You can refer to this link for some help on how to manage your greetings.
