Final bill data overage fee - how to estimate

I am thinking of porting one line out of fido and would like to understand if I would be charged for overage fee on my final bill. My plan includes 20g data + 5g bonus from a promo. Assume when I port out I used 3g and still have 26 days remaining in cycle. Should I calculate the overage as 3-(25/30*4)?

Hello @Se234 , are you talking about porting out before your month is up? Have you already used most of your data in the first 4 days? If you port out now (for example), your plan would end on the day of porting out. You would then be credited for the time remaining on your monthly plan and or charged for any extra fees incurred,  like long distance, data overage, etc. You do not get any credit for unused minutes and data, just the remainder of the month of your monthly plan fee. I hope that was the answer you were looking for.

Like I mentioned I used only 3g out of the 20g + 5g, and yes I understand all those you mentioned, I am asking how the fees are calculated in detail so it does not come as a surprise.

Hello Se234,

  Welcome to the community!

As Original_Lucy noted, your monthly fee would be retroactively prorated when your line is ported out and your next bill would include a credit for the unused days in the billing cycle as well as any additional charges, if any (ie long-distance or roaming etc).

With regards to your data, if I am understanding you correctly, there should not be any data overage charges. Assuming you only used 3 GB, that amount is less than your included monthly data allotment so that usage would not be considered overage.

On the other hand, if you happened to use 28 GB (assuming your plan includes 20 + 5 = 25 GB) then you would have used 3 GB of overage data which would incur additional charges. That said, most newer plans include Data Overage Protection which would pause your data when you reach your allotment.

Hope this helps 😀

@Se234 , ah, OK, now I get it. The fees will be determined by how many days in the month your plan id active prior to cancelation. The data, voice and text is all part of your plan. If you pay $60 month and use you plan for half the month, that is what you will get charged. I hope that's the answer you seek 😉
