Cannot send text message using Messages app

I can receive SMS

I can send a picture MMS

I CANNOT send a text.

1. I put my SIM card to another phone and was able to send text - means that SIM is fine

2. Used a SIM from another phone to the problem one and wasn't able to send SMS

3. did factory re-set - still the same problem

4. Fido couldn't resolve and connected me to Rogers

Rogers couldn't help and sent request to their guys saying they will solve my problem and will send me text message - was waiting for 3 days and nobody contated me

  Welcome to the community!


  Sorry to hear you're having issues sending SMS. Could you please verify whether you have always had this problem with that phone or has it recently appeared? Also, what version of OS is the phone using?


  From what you describe, it sounds like an issue with the phone rather than the network. I understand you did a factory reset, however, had you tried to clear the Messaging app's cache (see here)?


  If the phone is using EMUI 10, you might consider installing Huawei Backup. I normally don't suggest installing apps I'm not familiar with, however for some reason, it seems to have helped others with a similar issue (see here).


  You might also consider contacting Huawei or searching other forums more specific to your phone. It's possible they may offer other solutions.

I am just wondering, as soon as my faulty phone Fido SIM card works with no problem on other phone, is it possible that the phone itself maybe broken?

will phone factory re-set delete all the information and downloaded apps?

does it make sence to try this way?

or just buy a new phone

I am on 2 years contract that will expire this comming November and to get another 2 years contract with 'free' phone I have to pay $117.

it probably a pretty small price to avoid all the efforts to try to bring this phone up

  Yes, factory resetting a device will delete all information and downloaded apps. It would generally be suggested to backup all your information and/or apps prior to any factory reset. Performing a factory reset of a device can be a tedious process. However, it can also potentially solve some software conflict issues. Had you considered installing that suggested Huawei Backup app?


  From what you note, it seems more likely it's a software issue rather than a hardware issue (ie broken phone). If that's the case, a factory reset would be worth trying before considering purchasing a new phone. If you had already performed a factory reset, I don't think performing another would resolve your issue, though. Again, some other forums more specialised to Huawei or your particular device might be able to provide better additional information.


  In addition, since you are nearing the end of your current contract, your agreement is likely subsidised. Subsidised plans incorporated the cost of the devices into the cost of the plans. You should note that Fido has now switched from their subidised plans to a financed payment program for new devices. That is, the cost of devices is now separate from the cost of services. It's possible your old plan might not compatible with the new financed model. If that is the case, you would need to switch to a new plan in order to finance a new phone. On the other hand, you would be able to keep your current plan if you purchased your new phone outright.


  I'm not sure if the system will process the switch properly. In some instances, the system was still offering subsidised options for customers with existing subsidised plans. That could be the reason the system notes you can pay $117 for another phone. The Payment Program would require an additional monthly payment for fiancing a device.


  If you would like to switch to a plan with the new financing model, you might need to contact customer service.  Alternatively, you might consider sending @FidoSolutions a PM. Once they verify some information, they'll also be able to access your account.

I have fixed the problem.

this cell phone has 120 GB of memory and my wife used just 20 GB.

Who could think that n20 GB may affect SMS.

I have cleaned all the photos and videos from Messages, Whotsapp and photos.

and SMS works again.
