New Modem not connecting

I just moved in and connected a new modem but the @ located on the front will not turn on I have connected the coax wall outlet and power plug but it still hasn't come on, I've been on hold with tech support for over two hours but the call keeps hanging up on me I require service immediately as I was informed my wires were stable before I moved in
