iphone pre-order number is insane

So I pre-ordered my 16gb Black iPhone 5 at 7am PST on pre-order day. My number in line was 1775, which I thought was pretty high, but hey whatever.

I'm now down to Sub 900s.

Other reports are stating they pre-ordered hours, nigh, days after pre-order day and their numbers for phones that weren't even available yet are sub 100.

Can anyone explain this?

I think maybe the low numbers were for people that reserved the 32/64 GB models? Those became available for reserve starting the night of the first reserve day, and there are less people that reserved those models so their numbers are lower. At least that's my guess.
