So I had an iPhone 6S on prepaid, it had some serious overheating issues and apple replaced it with a new one with a DIFFERENT IMEI. I wanna take advantage of the "get phone unlocked after 90 days" policy so does the imei of my new iPhone need to be changed as my old one is still in my account?

Good morning Appledude0101!

The 90 days for the unlocking starts from the original date of purchase Smiley So if your phone was exchanged, you just have to make sure to keep the proof of exchange so we can process the unlocking!

To answer your question though, the IMEI would automatically be added to your account but we'd still need the proof of exchange since the new IMEI would've been there for less than 90 days.

Hope this helps Smiley

This thread was created a while ago.

I thought it would be good to update the information to make it easier for everyone to find the information.

You can find everything about unlocking a device on our blog here.
