in my personal use (personal experience; not expert)
i would not charge the phone the first time and let it discharge until it goes dead on it's own
then charge it up without turning it on (until i am certin it is fully charged)
with moderate/light use, i can survive a day without much problem with the xperia pro
where i made some setting changes also to extend the battery life (ie. no auto syncs)
