Microsoft just announced the Lumia 735 and 830. Both are LTE phones.

Will either of these work with Fido LTE? The Fido frequencies help page is very unclear.

Hey there band 7 is the 2600MHz one we use so you should be good for the LTE and the GSM should work fine. Do note that we cannot guarantee al this on an unlocked device though.

The reason I'm asking is because your frequencies page also lists 2100 MHz as well. Is band 7 the only one that's needed? Then what's 2100mhz used for?

 

Looking around the forums some have also said that you need band 4, the AWS frequencies, which neither of these phones support.

I would like some clarification as well, please!

 

Some sources say that (at least for Rogers - parent company of Fido) the 2600 frequency is an 'Additional network to deliver more bandwidth' such that:

 

'The maximum speed of LTE is dependant on combining channels and not the spectrum band it is using, the 2600 spectrum has channels that can be used with the AWS (2100) spectrum to get the 150Mbps'

 

~ with regards to the theortical maximum download speed of Rogers' LTE Max

 

To me (and many confused others), that implies that you need AWS (1700/2100) to get onto LTE, but can access the 2600 to increase download speeds. Can a 2600 only phone access the LTE network without AWS, albeit at lower than optimal speeds?

 

Please clarify.
