Hello Cawtau,

Thank you for youe meaningful inputs. Unfoetunately, their social media accounts are only directing me to contact them through a phone call. I think this just leave me with the risk of calling them and see whether I get charged or not.

Again, thank you and have a wonderful rest of the day!

Hello Akosiarchi,

Firstly, you should note these forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. I'm guessing callling that number from Canada could possibly incur charges.

Toll-free numbers are only free from long-distance (LD) charges if the businesses who own the number are willing to accept the LD call charges. Even in North America, there may be toll-free numbers which are free from LD charges only when called from certain locations (ie Canada or US only, State or Province specific, etc)(see here).

In addition, toll-free numbers are not generally free from LD charges when called from a different Country. That said, I do understand that particular number is considered an International Toll-free number. However, that particular bank does not list any Canadian providers as a partner Telcos (see here), suggesting they might not be willing to accept the LD charges on calls from Canada.

Unfortunately, the only way to determine whether a calling that number would be free from LD charges when called from Fido would be to enquire through the bank. I don't think Fido would be able to answer whether a business is willing to accept the long-distance charges for their toll-free phone number from a Country that is not listed. As mentioned in my other post, I do understand the particular Catch-22 aspect of the situation. However, the company may have other means of communication to determine the company's designated call area (ie social media, email, etc).

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
