Unlocking phone

Would like to unlock an android phone purchased through Fido as I no longer use it and would like to give it to a friend, can he have it unlocked or do I have to be the one to do it? Due to my schedule I am usually asleep during customer support hours so if I have to do it, can I receive the unlock code through here by providing the IMEI to an employee?

We would be able to unlock the device with any general contact in your account. They can reach out to us either over the phone or any of our other points of contact found here.
