Sim card won't transfer/update

I'm a participant level 1

Just got my new phone (Pixel 6A) + Sim card, but the online transfer process isn't working. I enter the old/new numbers but everytime it says it's the "Incorrect SIM"/ "not the SIM number associated to your phone number." I've checked the numbers on both to make sure I am putting in the correct one. Not sure what else to do? It's really frustrating me.

Have you tried using your old/current SIM card in your new device see if that would work? The new one you received can be kept as a back up.
