Nexus S using up data while signed out

My Nexus S smart phone seems to be running the Facebook app even when I am signed out. It's frustrating because it is using up my data. It is random and doesn't happen all the time.

I see that this is happening when I go into the manage apps screen and then when is currently running. Anyone else have this happening?

You'll have to disable data all together (and activate it when you need it) or simply remove FaceBook.

But the thing is it is not only facebook that works that way ... every other app out there will do the same (few apps give you the choice to use 3g data or not).
