Got a new Samsung S23 12 days ago from Best Buy who set up the phone and installed new sim card , and new Fido plan. Tested all functionality that day and all seemed fine. Since discovered I can not send or even reply to a message in messanger. Email and fb messenger all work fine.
Spent the day yesterday with both Best Buy support and hours with Fido support who were on line with technical support. In the end nothing... now I have an open ticket but no idea how to follow up.

What phone were you using before? If you were using an iPhone you might have to sign out of iMessages as that also cause issues with the switchover. Also, check to make sure your phone has the correct APN settings see here for that.
You can also try installing Google Messenger and see if that works instead of the phone's default version.
