Hey Community!

As of December 1, 2017, all devices sold by Fido will be sold unlocked or be unlocked at no charge upon request, without any waiting period.

Note: If you have a Pixel or Nexus device, you can stop reading here; it’s already unlocked.

Device requirements

The device must have been bought from Fido.

A few things to take note of:

  • When attempting too many times to unlock a device it may become permanently locked, if so it would have to be returned to the manufacturer for repair.
  • If the device is serviced under warranty, it will likely be returned locked. If the device is repaired / exchanged for the same model, we’ll unlock it again free of charge.
  • Limit of one request per month per phone number.
  • Fido customers can only unlock their device at a retail or dealer store if it was sold at that location and only at the time of the sale. Customers must call into Care to have their device unlocked for any other circumstance.
  • Unlocking is not available at third party retail locations (e.g. Best Buy, Walmart).
  • Keep in mind that some features and settings may not work because they’re configured to our network.
