So I still have about a year left on my plan with iphone XR. But right now the iphone 12 came out, and was planning to buy it soon. But I was concerned that if I can just switch the device to iphone 12 by just switching the sim card. I will keep paying the plan as always. Would that be possible? Thank you

If you have a year left on you contract, you likely have a subsidised plan. Are you planning on purchasing the iPhone 12 outright or did you intend on having it financed through Fido? If you purchased the iPhone 12 outright, you would be able to switch the SIM from your iPhone XR to use with your new phone. You would still have to pay for a plan within the same subsidy category to finish paying off the iPhone XR.
On the other hand, if you intended on financing the iPhone 12, you would be required to pay-out the balance of your iPhone XR (ie end contract) before you would be able to finance a new device.
Hope this helps 😀
