anyway to suspend my plan but keep my number active?

Hello all,

 

I am planning to travel for a year and I would like to keep my number active to use with whatsApp and Viber calls over wifi but I will not be useing my dataplan and was wondering if I can suspend the services but keep the phone number active?

Hello Nadowsha,

 

  Welcome to the community!

 

  Fido does offer a temporary suspension of 2 to 12 months for a reduced monthly rate of $7 per month. However, the suspension is only available on accounts without an agreement (see here). You should also note that the suspension can only be applied after your current billing cycle has ended.

 

**edit** With the temporary suspension, your number won't technically be active. That is, you won't be able to use your services (ie make/receive calls, send/receive SMS/MMS, or use data). However, you should still be able to continue using app services (ie WhatsApp and Viber) associated with your phone number via Wifi.**

 

  If you're eligible for the temporary suspension, you would need to contact customer service to have it set up. Alternatively, you might consider sending @FidoSolutions a PM. Once they verify some information, they will also be able to access your account.
