For new activations or hardware upgrades, there is a mandatory setup fee of $45.
If you complete those transactions online, you won't be charged for that fee. However, this fee applies when customers ask for assistance to set up their device in store.
To answer your question, if you renew and complete your upgrade online, this mandatory fee won't apply like explained here.
