Yet another APN Setting Question (sorry)

Hello All,

So I've been banging my head on this for a while now.

I switched over from Rogers to Fido with my unlocked phone, A Huawei Mediapad X2 (GEM-703L)

On Fido I can access internet just fine but can't send/recieve MMS messages.

I've tried a bunch of settings including the offical Fido recommendations from here (http://www.fido.ca/consumer/content/configure-unlocked-device-guide).

Currently got this:

APN: LTEMOBILE.APN

MMSC: http://mms.fido.ca

MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13

MMS Port: 80

Proxy, Port, User Name, Password, Server left blank

APN Type: default,mms

When I tried the non-LTE settings it broke the internet connectivity.

Any suggestions?  Been bombing through the internet and no luck so far.

Thanks for your time folks.

Best regards,

Hi pageophile!

You have the right APN settings! What happens when you try to send an MMS? Are you on WiFi when you try sending them? Is your cellular data enabled?

Let me know. Smiley

Hello and thanks Smiley

When I try and send it just keeps saying "Sending" and does not complete.

When receiving, it says "Couldn't download message"

WiFi is Turned Off and Cellular Data is On (enabled).

Just tried with WiFi On and same issue.

Best regards,

Thanks for the extra info. Smiley

Does this happen everytime you try to send an MMS? Can you try sending yourself an MMS with WiFi disabled to see if you receive it?

Thanks!

Turned off WiFi, sent myself a text (success) then tried to send a MMS (cat picture).

Sadly, it just sits there saying Sending . . .

Since you're using an unlocked phone, we can't guarantee that all services will work.

Are you using LTE right now? Can you change the network mode to 3G and then try sending yourself an MMS again?

Tried with Non-LTE setting and no internet, same issues with MMS.

Switched phone to 3G bands and Internet works, no change in MMS functionality.

I do get that with an unlocked phone there might be issues, that's on me.

What I don't get is why the same phone worked with Rogers and now with Fido there are issues.

Thanks again for all the help, it is appreciated.

Should I just give up on this phone with MMS and Fido?

Oh no. Sad

I'd also suggest a reset of your phone, and then entering the APN settings again. You can also test your SIM card in a Fido phone to see if the MMS do send. If that's the case, the issue would be coming from your phone.

Will try a factory reset after backing up all my data/apps.

Fingers crossed Smiley

Huzzah!  Success Very_Happy

Reset the phone to factory settings, re-entered the Fido APN settings (LTE) as per directions (Added APN Type default, mms) and now can get MMS messages

Thanks a bunch, now I'm off to re-download some stuff and futz with phone settings.

Woot! Very_Happy

I had the exact same issue, the key for me was to change the APN type to 'default, mms' instead of just 'default'.

Awesome to hear! Smiley

Have to say you Mod's were very helpful, thank you!

Been a Fido customer ever since you came to town (Edmonton), glad I'm still with the Company.
