Hello Lorrainewsn,

  Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear of your situation. We are unable to read the full discussion as it is not in either English or French. However, I don't think they are official representatives for Fido. The phone number of the contact leads to a Facebook discussion page with talk of cash-only transactions. In addition, I don't think Fido does any sales or support via WhatsApp. Furthermore, the website associated with the email provided appears to resell various Canadian services, not just Fido. Regrettably, that website does not look like it is legitimately associated with any of the Canadian providers.

As far as I am aware, the only affiliation abroad for Fido is CanadianSIM.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell if it is a complete SCAM or people genuinely trying to help but are unfamiliar with the products and services. If you feel it was fraudulent, you might consider reporting it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (see also here). However, since the interactions appear to be from outside of Canada, I'm not sure if they would have jurisdiction.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

I'm sure this isn't scam because I'm using the wireless plan. I found the online customer servicer and spent more than 2 hours. He told me to post on social media. Are your company kidding me? Or shirking the problem?? Very disappointed to your company!

Hello again,

Glad to hear you are actually able to use Fido services so it wasn't a complete SCAM. However, that does not mean the person you interacted with from Hong Kong works for Fido. It also doesn't mean their website and Facebook belong to legitimate Fido resellers. As mentioned in my previous post, Fido (or any big company) would not resort to the shady practices discussed in that Facebook discussion.

If someone purchases tickets for a concert or show and later sells them to someone else, that does not mean the seller works for the Ticket agency. If they make false claims about the tickets, the Ticket agency is not responsible for those unfounded claims.

Bottom line: That person you interacted with in Chinese does not work for Fido. You keep claiming Fido hired them. They did not. That's why they don't have any record of that interaction. Yes, the services are ultimately from Fido, but you are blaming them for making a claim they didn't even make.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

If they don't work with Fido, why I can able to use Fido? I'm sure that someone in Fido help me to transfer the phone number from another provider. Why your company doesn't look into this case? And find out any violation.

Hello again,

Fido offers a product. That product happens to be mobile services. Many people can sell the product without working for Fido. For example, you can get Fido services from any 3rd-party reseller (ie Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, WirelessWave, etc). They also offer services from the other providers too. However, none of those people working at those locations actually work for Fido. Nor do they work for the other mobile providers. They work for Best Buy, Walmart, etc. Fido are not responsible for any claims those resellers may make. If there are any issues regarding those claims, customers would need to contact the resellers for resolution.

Those 3rd-party resellers usually also sell mobile phones. That doesn't mean that they work for Apple or Samsung etc. If a reseller claims Apple will give you a rebate for the device, Apple is not responsible for providing said rebate if it isn't something they actually offer.

If they did work for Fido, why was your correspondence using a phone number from Hong Kong? In addition, why did they include non-official methods of communication: WhatsApp and an email adddress linked to an illegitimate website?

Is it possible that person was a 3rd-party reseller? Sure. However, even those 3rd-party resellers mentioned above would refer customers to Fido.ca for assistance.

I understand you have now contacted actual Fido customer service. If there is anything to investigate, they will. However, as mentioned earlier with regards to reporting it as fraud, since the interactions appear to be from outside of Canada, I'm not sure how much they can investigate. As noted in your interatction with Fido, they don't have any record of your initial discussion.

Cheers
