Hope you get the information before you leave... What plan do you have? If it is a Pulse plan, the Dominican Republic would be included in Fido Roam. As such, Fido Roam ($12/day) would be your only option.
If you do not have a Pulse plan, then you would need to get a Travel pack (or pay-per-use $3/min talk; 75¢/sent text; $ 9.99 per 10 MB (24 hours)). The Dominican Republic is considered Zone 3. There is also a new Caribbean and Mexico Promotional travel pack.
