I'm currently on a billing plan with Fido, and if I need to change from Fido to Virgin, (in order to get some benefits about a package) and to keep the same number, do I need to pay a fee to Fido? Or is it better to cancel Fido alltogether?

  In order to port your phone number to another network, you would need to contact your new provider and they would have to request the phone number port from Fido on your behalf (see here). You should note that your Fido line would need to remain active for the porting process to complete (see here). Once your number has been successfully ported over, your Fido line would be cancelled automatically. You will receive a final bill once your line has been cancelled. If you are subsidising or financing a device, you will be required to pay the balance of that device.
